Meatza Meatza!

Oh how I love you!  When you want some “fatty” food like a pizza but are looking to do it the healthy way try a meatza!  It’s an amazing treat that tastes and looks awesome!

Ingredients:

1 pound ground beef (preferably grass-fed)

1 pound ground pork (you can stick with just beef if you would like)

1/4 cup finely diced onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 egg

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (I usually skip this)

3/4 teaspoon finely ground salt (I used sea salt)

1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Combine the pork, beef, onion, garlic, egg, cheese salt and pepper. Mix well. Pat out evenly onto a 16-inch rimmed pizza pan (or a large cookie sheet). Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and carefully pour out the juices that have accumulated in the pan.

Now for your toppings!  You can really do anything that your heart desires; on this one we used onions, red peppers, mushrooms, and olives. I sautéed the veggies and while they were cooking I made a sauce with one jar of tomato paste and then seasoned it with spices and olive oil to taste. Once the veggies were all set I loaded up the meatza with the sauce and veggies and placed it in the oven for another 5-10. Let it cool for a bit when you take it out and then you can cut it up just like you would pizza! You are able to hold it in your hand but I usually just a fork because sometimes it can be a little messy when I put a ton of toppings on!  Enjoy!

Here is another way you can have a meatza made with chicken instead of beef!
